1. Mount Batur:
One of Bali's volcanoes, Mount Batur, is a must-climb for anybody visiting the island. With just flashlights and the moonlight to guide you as you set out in the middle of the night on the steep and challenging journey (a tour guide is advised), the views from the peak are incredible.

And rest easy; Mount Batur hasn't experienced a volcanic eruption in 19 years. You can see Mount Agung in the distance, Bali's highest peak and holiest site. It last erupted just three months ago, in November 2018.

Unquestionably one of the highlights of my trip to Bali was seeing the sunrise from the volcano's summit.

I suggest the following choices to acquire the best ticket deals and stay away from con artists:

  •  Sunrise hike on Mount Batur with a guide, including breakfast at the top
  •  Sunrise trek on Mount Batur with a guide; this package also includes access to the summit's natural hot springs
  •  A vintage Volkswagen convertible jeep offers a private volcano safari tour of Mount Batur.

2. Angseri Hot Springs:
Without a doubt, one of my favourite places and most delightful experiences in Bali were the natural hot springs at Angseri.

There was scarcely anyone around, in addition to the fact that they are scalding hot natural mineral water pools set in lovely surroundings. My wife and I got exclusive use of the main pool. Locals frequently use these natural pools for purification and leisure. There are two sizable hot spring pools at Angseri and several more minor, enclosed pools with changing rooms for those who prefer seclusion. Include this in your Bali adventure, please!

3. The Jatiluwih Rice Terraces:
The huge Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, Bali's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, are a breathtaking sight to behold and extend as far as the eye can see.

Due to the tropical temperature, the high mineral content of the soil from Bali's active volcanoes, and the intricate river system, the broad lowlands and valleys are ripe and fertile, ideal for growing rice and other crops. Early in the morning, when there aren't many people around, is the best time to visit Jatiluwih. As an alternative, arrive in the late afternoon or just before dusk.

The rice terraces are a must-see for visitors since Balinese farmers have proudly grown rice for millennia using ancient technology that sculpted the environment into this renowned beauty.

4. Bali's Waterfalls:
Numerous magnificent waterfalls of different sizes and kinds are hidden deep in the mountains in the less visited north.

I urge you to experience at least one of these magnificent waterfalls in Bali, especially if it's a hot day and you are not living in a water villa where you can cool down. It can be challenging to reach the waterfalls. There is a lot of walking and stair climbing. While some waterfalls are trickier to get than others, I assure you that the effort is worthwhile.

Since most of these significant waterfalls are in the north, it is suggested that you stay at a homestay in Munduk or Lovina to have enough time to explore them thoroughly.

5. Bali's Smaller Islands (Gili & Nusa Islands):
Travelling to the surrounding, utterly stunning smaller islands by speed boat is one of the joys of a trip to Bali.

There are two choices: the Nusa Islands (Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan, and Nusa Penida) or the Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air). It almost feels like escaping to your exotic island retreat; Balinese life is authentic and unspoiled by tourism and business.

Schedule time to visit one or both of the island groups. You might also see both if you have more time.

6. Pura Tirta Empul:
The holy Tirta Empul water temple is an exception to the rule that not all popular tourist destinations are worthwhile in crowds. One of Bali's most well-known temples, devoted to the Hindu god Vishnu, was built in 962 AD.

In the sacred natural pools, the temple invites guests to participate in a protracted purifying ritual experience with locals (and some pilgrims from outside the area). Another Bali must-see location nearby Ubud that you can cross off your list.

You may reserve a full-day shamanic healing and spiritual purification excursion at Tirta Empul here.

7. Ulun Danu Bratan Temple:
One of the island's most famous and stunning sights, The Temple on Lake - Ulun Danu Bratan, is a place that is worth snapping pictures at.

This Hindu water temple is near Munduk on the island's northern Danu Lake. Look no further if you're figuring out where to go in Bali.

Indeed, the vistas are breathtaking—the mountains across the lake, clouds billowing through them, and the temple itself. For the most incredible views, visit to see these stunning vistas during the golden hour just before sunset. You can arrange a private tour of Ulun Danu Bratan's temple, including a visit to the difficult-to-reach Sekumpul waterfalls.

8. The Temple Of Lempuyang (Gates Of Heaven):
The Gates Of Heaven, one of the island's most beautiful and spiritual locations, is arguably the most Instagrammable. There are a lot of tourists here because of its enormous popularity. Therefore you must wait in line to have your picture taken before the gate.

Sunrise or sunset are the ideal times to visit, depending on who you ask in the area; some will say sunrise, and others will say sunset. Lempuyang Temple is located on the island's far east side, about two hours from Ubud. Therefore, consider leaving Ubud at about 3 am.

Visit Lempuyang to see this unique landmark and take pictures perfect for Instagram. About that, you can visit this page to take a full-day tour of Instagram highlights.

9. Bali's Beaches:

Thailand's beaches can't be beaten by Bali's. Bali has immaculate white and distinctive black sand beaches (caused by volcanic ash and minerals). Visit Uluwatu, where there are several, for magnificent white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.

For sunrise, head to Nusa Dua on the east coast; for sunset, visit Karang Boma Cliff and Pantai Tegal Wangi on the west coast; and for beaches, head to Bingin Beach, Balangan Beach, and Padang Padang Beach on the west coast.

However, some of Bali's most excellent beaches can be found on the island of Nusa Penida; my top picks include Diamond Beach, Atuh Beach, Crystal Bay, Suluwan Beach, and Kelingking Beach.

10. Tanah Lot Water Temple:
